Small Business
A 'small business' is a kind of venture that has a small number of employees, revenues, sales and clients. This type of business is one that usually does not require a big space to operate. Private business owners generally own it. Some common examples of this type of venture include accountants, restaurants, guesthouses, photographers, small-scale manufacturing, convenience stores, small shops, saloons and more.
The number of employees in a small business is usually less than 100; while in mid-sized businesses this number is mostly under 500. On the other hand, big businesses may retain thousands and millions of employees at a time depending on the size of the organization. Small businesses are available in both forms- partnership as well as sole proprietorship. In case of partnerships, there are two partners who jointly take care of their business and share the profit and loss.
There are lots of benefits of doing a small business. It needs less capital and manpower. Some small businesses can be easily operated from the home such as a medical store, general store, stationary shop, grocery store to name a few. Apart from these, there are some small ventures, which do not bring a good result, if they are not in the main market area. What impresses most about small ventures is that they can be set-up by anybody and at any age. They do not require large spaces and are highly profitable.
