Microswitches
A 'microswitch' is used to refer to an electric switch that is able to be brought into action by just little physical force. Microswitches are very common these days. They are used in almost every office and home, because they are highly low-cost. The unique and compact design of these switches make them durable and reliable.
Tracing back to the history of the microswitch, it was invented by Peter McGall in the year 1932 in Freeport. This is why he is known as the God of microswitches. According to the historians, Peter started his own company in the year 1937 and gave it the name ' Microswitch'. The interesting fact is that this company exists even today. These days, it is owned by Honeywell Sensing and Control.
The micro switch is basically used to control and regulate devices. It is often placed in small spaces. A standard micro switch usually works with currents from 0.1A to 15A, and resists temperatures that are between -30 and 80 Celsius degrees. One of the common types of switches is the mercury switch whose purpose is to allow or interrupt the flow of electric current in an electrical circuit. The mercury switches comprise of one or more sets of electric contacts in a sealed glass envelope which containing a bead of mercury.
