Granite & Marble
Granite and Marble are the two main categories under natural stones which are widely used for construction, architectural and many other areas.
Granite is a widely occurring felsic, igneous rock with a medium to coarse texture. Depending upon its chemistry and mineralogy, it is found in grey, black, pink and many more colors. They are present since Precambrian age, in major parts of the continental crust of the earth in the form of small masses. This natural stone was earlier used for building foundations, but now used extensively used as flooring tiles in building and other structures.
It is considered to be a better replacement to marble because of its durability and resistance feature. Now a days, polished granite is widely used in making kitchen counter top, as it has aesthetic qualities and long life.
However, marble is considered as one of the most varied natural stones, because of different families and appearance. It is a metamorphic rock, usually made of limestone, that has been subjected to excessive heat, pressure and water for a long period of time. The main reason behind its distinct appearance is recrystallization.
