Books
A 'book' is a collection of written or printed, illustrated sheets which are made of paper or the other material. A single sheet within a book is generally known as leaf, while each side of a leaf is called a page. The magazines, periodicals, journals do not come under books. The place where books are kept and sold is called bookstore. On other hand, a place that stocks a collection of books, magazines, journals, newspapers etc. for the sake of providing free literature to the members or non-members is know as library.
The structure of a book basically include front cover, title page, copyright page, table of contents, foreword, preface, introduction, main body and the back matter such as appendix, glossary, index, notes, bibliography, colophon and flyleaf. There are various types of books, but broadly they can be divided into two types- fiction books and non-fictional books.
The books of fiction contain the untrue or fancy full stories. They are usually meant for entertainment and pleasure. The novel is the best example of fictional work. Novel stories are based on a plot, setting, themes and characters. A novel can be both-serious as well as whimsical. Talking about the non-fictional books, they may include any non-fictional world such as dictionary, encyclopedia, reference book, handbook, instruction manuals, cooking and home improvement books, textbooks, address books and phone books and many more.
We live in the era of technology when the books are being produced in electronic format as well. Such books are known as e-books. Such books can be availed from various websites that stock e-books on different subjects and topics.
