Lights and candles
The term 'light' refers to radiation or illumination. There are different source of light such as fire, sun, stars, lighting, lamp, candles, electric bulb and so on. The light obtained from fire, sun and stars is known as natural light, while the light secured from the electric bulbs, lamps and candles is artificial light. The artificial light is playing a very important role in the lives of the people. Various types of electric bulbs and lamps are very important to illuminate our houses and other places that need light.
Talking about candles, they are a great source of light and sometimes a source of heat. The candles are widely used by the individuals around the globe for different purposes. In Rome, candles were made from tallow and the pith of rushes around the first century, while in Egypt, they were made from the beeswax. Recently, such candles have been replaced by freestanding and transparent candles. Most of the candles are made from paraffin, while candles can also be made from sources such as beeswax, soy and tallow. Some of the most common candles include gel candles which are made from a mixture of paraffin and plastic.
A person who makes candles is known as chandler. There are various devices for holding candles such as candle holder, candle lighter etc. Before the advent of electricity, the basic use of candles and oil lamps was to provide light. Today, they are also used in ceremonies and functions to add value and scent to set a warm or romantic ambiance. These days, people can get a wide range of candles and lamps in the market for different occasions and ceremonies.
