Media plays a very powerful role in our society and civilization. It provides instant access for information world wide. In this category we tried to cover mass media that focuses on presenting current news to the general public. The industry which produce news and entertainment content for the mass media are generally known as "the media." This term became quite common in usage especially after the late 20th century. With the onset of internet, many news organization have started distributing news online. Today, internet is one of the main threats to the traditional news organizations. However, online journalism has also led to the spread of independent online media such as openDemocracy and Wikinews. It has also allowed many smaller news organization to publish news to a broad audience.
